Sahalie Falls McKenzie River Oregon Elopement
It’s been a minute since I’ve blogged any work. Last year got so busy I just put it on the back burner. So now I’m going to start posting some of my favorite elopements from last year. So to start let’s head down to Sahalie Falls on the Mckenzie River corridor between Portland and Bend.
Tucked away in the lush wilderness of the McKenzie River area in Oregon, Sahalie Falls is a dreamlike location for couples seeking an intimate and adventurous elopement. The roar of the cascading waterfall, the misty air, and the vibrant greens of the old-growth forest create a breathtakingly romantic atmosphere. When I had the chance to photograph a couple’s elopement here, it was nothing short of magical. The couple exchanged vows at a cabin they rented on the river right down the road from the falls and very close to Clear Lake. The natural beauty of the area provided an incredible backdrop, with every shot capturing the raw, untamed essence of the Pacific Northwest.
As we explored the surrounding trails for portraits, the couple embraced the adventure(Rain and cold mist of the falls), hiking along mist-covered pathways and stopping to take in the views of the river below. The soft, diffused light filtering through the towering trees added an ethereal glow to their photos, making every moment feel cinematic. Sahalie Falls and the surrounding region truly offers a one-of-a-kind elopement experience—secluded, dramatic, and deeply connected to nature. Whether couples want a quiet, heartfelt ceremony or a bold, adventurous celebration, this location provides the perfect setting for love stories to unfold. If you’re dreaming of an elopement where nature takes center stage, Sahalie Falls is an unforgettable choice.
Now that Spring has finally broke here in the western part of the state the mountains will be melting and opening back up to casual use again. The Mckenzie River area is an amazing spot for your elopement. It provides quite a few destinations you can elope to. Clear Lake, Sahalie Falls, Tamolitch Falls(Blue Pool) and a ton of random off the road spots. Anytime late spring through fall is amazing here and it’s easily accessible.
