This year is giving me a chance to get caught up on the blogging backlog that goes way back. This one in particular I photographed right before I moved west to Oregon 2 years ago. I was scheduled to photograph Amy’s wedding this year but of course that was postponed since she’s in North Carolina. But before I moved west we did something that’s fairly common back east: bridal portraits.

If you aren’t familiar with a bridal portrait it’s a photo session much like an engagement session but with just the bride. Think of this as a glam session for the bride before the wedding. Usually a large print or canvas is made up for the reception and put on display. Why people started it? No idea. But it’s common and I really enjoy(ed) photographing them.

I’ve have had zero requests for them out here so I figured I’d throw this blog out there and see if anyone is interested.

Weddings and Waterfalls

So like I said, this was from 2 years ago when I was still in N.C. I photographed up in the Blue Ridge Mountains outside of Asheville quite often. This particular bridal session was photographed at the ever popular Looking Glass Falls. That area of N.C. has quite a few waterfalls. Not as many as we have out here but I bet it’s darn close. It’s considered a rainforest with all of the precipitation they get.

Looking Glass Falls is my favorite to photograph in NC. It’s the perfect backdrop much like the Latourell Falls or Wahclella Falls shoots I’ve done out here. I’d love to get some future brides out there in front of some local waterfalls or even on top of Mt. Hood or out on the coast.

Bridal shoots run the same as an engagement or couples session so if you’re interested in getting glammed up and photographed in front of a waterfall let’s plan something rad!
