Mt Hood Skibowl Weddings

Sunny Mt Hood Skibowl Wedding

I don’t shoot many large weddings anymore since my transition to mainly elopements and commercial work but man I love Skibowl. The warming hut cabin is the perfect backdrop for any wedding that wants that touch of the outdoors without doing a full on elopement. Keith and Briana were absolutely amazing to work with. Super kind, upbeat and really grateful to be able to have their closest friends and family finally get together after almost over a year and a half of covid drama.

Sunshine and Mountain Views

I met Keith and Briana well before Covid hit and of course like many their wedding plans had to be put on pause or canceled. Luckily we all pulled through and the vendors were able to reschedule on their new date and I’m so glad. These two are just all around awesome people and even though their dog Steve is an asshole I still love him too. Speaking of Steve he made it to the wedding which was hilarious because he took off running from the altar so to speak when Briana walked up to Keith. Had everyone in absolute stitches. What else can I say? It was super bright(For the love of God I wish Skibowl would allow sunset photos/ceremonies at the warming hut). Those 2pm ceremonies in full sun kill me(and the guests). But hard to beat those mountain views.

I love this venue so if you’re thinking about doing your wedding here please reach out and see if I’m available. Would love to talk.

Cloudy Mt Hood Skibowl Wedding

This Mt Hood Skibowl wedding made me so stoked. It is one of my favorite local venues in the Portland Oregon area so I’m always excited to get an inquiry for here(or anywhere on the mountain to be honest). On a clear day you have Mt Hood overlooking your ceremony from the warming hut. Even on a cloudy day like this one it was absolutely stunning. The chair lift from the warming hut where the ceremony takes place to the top of the mountain gives a view of the entire valley including Mt. Hood. There was rolling fog and clouds on this day and it made the perfect backdrop for this Mt Hood Skibowl wedding. As they say, there is no such thing as bad weather here in Oregon, just poorly dressed people.

Most people book Ski Bowl because of the insanely good view of Mt. Hood. That day we definitely had weird weather and the clouds obscured the mountaintop, but the soft light and foggy glow all day was a tradeoff I was happy to make.

FOGGY DAYS AND CHAMPAGNE TOASTS

Olivia and Evan were a blast to work with. I met their family the year prior when we photographed their engagement shoot at Cape Kiwanda on the coast. Olivia was a bit bummed because of the clouds that rolled in the day. Totally understandable when you want Mt Hood overlooking your wedding. The upside was perfect lighting conditions. There’s always a give and take with the weather. I’ve learned to embrace whatever it might be. This is the Pacific Northwest after all.

The ceremony was held right outside of the warming hut overlooking the valley. It was a stunner. Olivia and Evan’s families looked on as they exchanged vows on top of the mountain. It was crisp that day. Felt like an early fall day. After the ceremony we descended on the mountain roller coaster(almost worth booking this venue just to have the wedding party take the roller coaster) to the bottom where the tent was set up for the reception(which had Salt and Straw, Portland’s amazing ice cream shop). Everything went off without a hitch and was a blast. I really enjoyed hanging out with these two and shooting at Mt Hood Skibowl again

If you’re wanting to elope or have an engagement on the coast please get in touch. I know all of the great spots and I’m happy to share the beauty of Oregon with you.
