I’m heading off to Iceland tomorrow to photograph a vow renewal but before that I thought I’d toss up this blog of my Italy adventures. Preparing for two weeks on the road got me thinking about my five weeks I spend in Europe this last summer traveling and photographing really rad couples. I visited over 7 countries and had an absolute blast. I also learned that if you overpack on a long trip you will absolutely, no doubt about it, for sure regret it. Imagine me dragging a 50b bag around Rome for a few miles. Just terrible. Anyway, I never really got around to posting any of my photos from that trip. I’ve loads from Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Greece and Italy among others. So I just wanted to put a quick blog post together with some of my favorite images from bouncing around Italy.
We mainly stayed in Northern Italy but in the Dolomites and took the train or rental car to get around. I really preferred the ruggedness of Northern Italy and the border region with Austria to the more touristy southern region. I can’t complain about any of it though. It was an absolute blast and the Italians were extremely friendly. Did I mention coffee? Not watered down American coffee, but real, thick, espresso. So good!
The first photos you’ll see are taken when I was lost trying to find a certain lake(Lake Braies) up in the Dolomites. I took what I thought was going to be a more scenic route and boy was I right. I’ve never driven through such a pretty and remote area. The roads were typically one lane with tunnels through the mountain(you can imagine how fun that was). I managed to make it to all my destinations unscathed at least. Venice and Burano were real treats as well. After all that mountain driving it was nice just to coast around the canals of Venice with a beer and enjoy the sun. Rome was alright too. If I’m being honest, it was probably my least favorite of all the places I visited in Italy. The colosseum was a bucket list item but other than that I could have gone without Rome and never regretted a thing. Hopefully after this Iceland trip I’ll be able to share more photos from the other countries but for now I hope you guys enjoy these.
