Rainy Portland Model Test Shoot
Here’s a rainy Portland model test shoot for y’all. I love weddings, but I also love photographing models. It allows me to slow down and be bit more creative because I’m not rushed for time. To be completely honest, we just kind of flew by the seat of our pants on this shoot. There was no exact direction except drive around the city and capture some great photos for Target’s instagram. We started near Sellwood which is a neighborhood on the south east side. It started raining pretty heavily so we packed up and went to the bridge you see in the first photo. It’s all covered and looks like a cathedral which lends itself to some great lines and framing. We had to out wait a wedding party who was doing photos there as well which was kind of fun being mainly a wedding photographer. After we wrapped that location we went to grab some coffee and wait out the rain because it was really coming down. This wasn’t your gentle Portland drizzle, it was just big, heavy, rain drops. Once coffee was finished and the rain let up a bit we found a really cool burnt orange wall although I like to call it “yellow ochre” in reference to Bob Ross. Those are some of my favorite shots from the shoot because of the matching tones. From the wall we went around the block and found some nice greenery and did a few shots there to wrap the shoot. This was all available light. Usually I’ll bring a lighting setup for a shoot but I wanted to see what we could do with a dark and cloudy day. I’m really pleased with the way they turned out and I’m sure Target will be happy with them as well. Loved the outfit they put together for the shoot.
