Portland Oregon Waterfall Engagement
This Portland Oregon waterfall engagement was pretty rad by any standards. Sandra and Kelli had just moved up from San Francisco to relocate in Portland for work. They had been in town for about 3 months before our engagement shoot so we decided to go somewhere they hadn’t been before that I thought they’d really enjoy, Wahclella Falls. Wahclella is one of my favorite falls in the Columbia River Gorge. It’s a fairly short and easy hike and you’re rewarded with a stunning view at the end. The only issue is it’s usually full of swimmers and day use folks. When we pulled in there were about 20 cars in and around the parking lot. Knowing that wasn’t going to work I suggested we go grab a beer at Pfriem down the road in Hood River to kill some time and come back right as the sun went down in hopes the crowds had dispersed. So we did. Pfriem has some delicious beer and food and Hood River is such a great little town. On the way back we stopped in Government Cove to do some photos and chew up a little more time. The sun was just started to go below the mountains when we were shooting and we timed it out perfectly. When we arrived back to Wahclella the only people we encountered were folks leaving the falls and heading back for dinner. We had the whole places to ourselves finally. On warmer days I love to have my couples get wet on the last few shots of the shoot but it wasn’t exactly warm near the falls so we opted for the dry route. All in all it was an awesome time and it’s always a bonus being able to grab a beer with my couples(I usually bring a few with me on a shoot anyway to loosen everyone up). Funny enough I ran into them the next day at a farmers market in Sellwood so we sat on their front porch and ate tamales! Can’t beat it!
