Looking Glass Falls Wedding
I split a lot of my time between being an Asheville, NC and shooting near my current home in Portland, Oregon but I always love being able to photograph a looking glass falls wedding. I love being able to split my time between two of my favorite cities. I always say Asheville is the Portland of the East coast. I was in town doing promotional work for The Photo Rehab, a photography retreat/workshop I’m teaching at later this year. While I was in town I photographed Sarah at Looking Glass Falls which is one of my favorite places in Western Carolina to photograph. Partly because it’s a short walk down the steps from the road but also it’s just one of the prettiest falls without having to do any solid hikes. Pisgah National Forest(where this is) is full of waterfalls. There’s something like 300 in the area and you can easily hike to many of them. Others require a bit more work but it’s well worth it if you’re in the area. The dress was custom made by Salt Lake City designer Elizabeth Cooper Designs. It was absolutely gorgeous. It had the side benefit of being a bit warm because it was super rainy and chilly that day. We had to take breaks in the car between shooting so we could all warm up. I will say, shooting near/in/on waterfalls is one of my favorite things to do. In Portland there are so many nearby and it’s the same with Asheville. I really prefer to shoot in inclement weather too(I’m weird, I know). It’s just nice to be able to capture a scene in totally different light and conditions than most people typically photograph them with. I’d love to hear what you guys think of this session! Feel free to comment below and I’ll definitely respond when I get a chance!
