Adventurous Wedding Locations Asheville NC
So since I shoot a lot in Portland which is really well known, I thought I’d list some adventurous wedding locations Asheville NC which isn’t quite as popular or “famous” yet. Portland is far more well known to the mountain, beer and outdoor lifestyle loving crowd. They’re both really great cities and have tons to offer. Obviously for me, and my clients, they’re both just spectacular on the natural beauty side of things. So I thought I’d make a blog about one of my favorite places to photograph near Asheville. I shot this couples session with Andrew and Shannon up at Black Balsam Knob. It’s right off a very accessible and well known part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The day we went up it was like driving into a cloud. The wind was whipping, it was about 35 degrees and the rain was coming in sideways for quite a bit. Not to mention it’s hunting season so we ran into quite a few rabbit hunters along the trail. On a nice day the view from here is spectacular, and on a day like this one it’s still absolutely stunning. The clouds hang low up there and you are quite literally in them. So when you think it’s raining, you’re really just inside a cloud. It’s a very cool experience for people that have never had it happen. There’s lots of variety there as well. You can hike up the bald(treeless mountain top) or you can hang lower in the forest that has some really beautiful pockets of light. The trails up the mountain are exposed too so it’s really quite a stunning place to be on a clear day. The best part about getting married in Asheville is that even after a long day of being cold and wet on the mountain, you can drive down to one of a hundred awesome breweries in town like Wicked Weed or Green Man Brewing and grab a cold beverage.
